Saturday mornings

Saturday mornings used to always be about getting up early to watch my favorite cartoons, eating some kind of Kellogs cereal and then around 9 or 10 a.m. sometimes my friends would come over to hang out.

My favorite cartoon shows were “The Little Mermaid” and “Garfield and Friends.” I think the mermaid show was on at 7:30 a.m. (I can’t believe I used to get up so early!) I liked the Garfield cartoons rather than his “friends” that were farm animals.

I had two friends that would come over to hang out but not usually at the same time. They both lived about a mile away.

In college, Saturdays were all about recovery time: recovery from the night before. I’d go out with some friends to parties and then I’d sleep in. The dormitory I lived in freshman and sophomore year was right across from the cafeteria which was nice. As soon as I ate brunch, I started to feel normal again.

Now since I work 40 or more hours a week, Saturdays are usually recovering from the week. Sometimes I have to do work on Saturdays. I don’t exactly think I’m a workaholic. It’s just my profession that keeps me on my feet and is demanding at times.

Saturday morning rituals is usually talking to my significant other and going to Wawa for a ciabatta melt. My fiancé will watch Pokemon cartoons sometimes. Why? I don’t know. They’re pretty cute though. This one episode these sheep were angry so they charged into a castle.

I also like to go on Fark.com and read about Caturday. Caturday is silly pictures of kitties and people post captions for them. If you want to check it out, visit www.fark.com and click on the thread about cats.

Some Saturdays I go home to visit my parents or I hang out with friends. I think you learn to appreciate weekends more when you have a full time job. Time is so precious.

What do you like to do on Saturdays? Do you sleep in or do you get up early? Do share your rituals with me!
